Directions for the Cruise Ship Captain
Every morning for the past 30 years, the cruise ship captain would start his
day by going to his desk drawer, unlocking it, reading a slip of paper, then
closing the drawer.
When he retired, his assistant, who had been observing this practice for years,
went to the captain’s drawer, unlocked it and pulled out the slip of paper.
On it was written,
“Port
left, starboard right.”
