An Alberta guy visiting St. John’s, Newfoundland, meets a Newfie at a local bar
and asks the Newfie, “How come you Newfies think you are so smart?”
The Newfie replies, “We eats lots of fish, b’y, lots of fish.”
He pauses. “Tell you what, give me $55 and I’ll get my wife to cook up the best fish dish you have ever tasted. That’ll make you smart!”
The Albertan gives the Newfie the money, and the next day goes to the Newfie’s
house for the fish dinner.
Afterward he tries to make a point. “That was a great feed of fish, but isn’t
$55 a little expensive since I didn’t eat at a restaurant?”
Without a moment’s hesitation, the Newfie replies, “Right, b’y. See, you are getting smarter already!”
