Elk Lane
Try a few Elk cookies the next time you're in Banff, Alberta!
Picture from Banff - looking at the Trans-Canada Highway going east to Calgary.
(the truck's on the Trans-Canada Highway heading west to
Lake Louise, Alberta & Golden, B.C.)
This used to be their natural crossing, but in response to
growing traffic volume,
collisions and wildlife roadkill, the Trans-Canada highway was upgraded with
wildlife crossings.
Grizzly bears, wolves, elk,
moose and deer prefer wildlife crossings that are high,
wide and short in length, including overpasses.
Black bears and cougars prefer more constricted crossings.
