For more than a year, a man had eaten in a small restaurant whose sign read, “Mary’s Home Cooking,” but never once had he seen Mary.

Finally his curiosity got the better of him and he said to the waitress, “I’ve been having lunch in here for a long time, and Mary is never around. Where is she?”

“She’s just where the sign says she is,” the waitress answered, “Home cooking.”
